MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Julia Chilver founded Maldon Youth Orchestra (MYO) with Norman Muncey in 2000 & has been Musical Director since 2013. Julia is MYO’s principal conductor. She is a flautist & works as a music teacher at a primary school in Maldon.

FOUNDER

Norman Muncey founded MYO in 2000. He was Conductor until 2010 & Secretary until 2015. He continued to guide the organisation until his sad passing in 2017. His hard work, vision and dedication will continue to inspire the orchestra.

SECRETARY & SAFEGUARDING LEAD

Gemma Burton joined the orchestra as a clarinettist and then bass clarinettist between 2002 and 2011. Following University, she returned to help out at the orchestra in 2014. Gemma works as a Geography Teacher at Notley High School.

CHAIR

Jo Reyes has Chaired MYO since 2022 and is safeguarding level 2 trained through Essex County Council. She joined the Committee in 2010 when her son joined the orchestra. She is COO of GBI, working on global human rights issues.
